What is China's Optics Valley?

China's Optics Valley is the East Lake High-tech Zone in Wuhan, Hubei, founded in 1988. It holds about half of China's optoelectronic information industry and some 16,000 optoelectronic companies, makes about a quarter of the world's optical fiber and cable, and is China's largest base for laser equipment. China drew its first practical optical fiber here in 1976.

Where is Optics Valley?

In the east of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province in central China. The official name is the Wuhan East Lake New Technology Development Zone (East Lake High-tech Zone).

What does Optics Valley make?

Optical fiber, preforms and cable; optical devices and transceivers; fiber and other industrial lasers and the machines built on them; infrared and sensing components; and, increasingly, equipment for batteries and other advanced manufacturing.

Why buy through a partner instead of directly from a factory?

With some 16,000 companies in the zone, the hard part is choosing. A partner that audits factories, tests your part before you order and stays responsible after delivery takes most of the risk out of buying from far away.
