Key takeaways
- Made-in-China listings in October 2026 showed open-bed fiber laser cutters at about US$7,900–22,900, US$10,000–12,000 for 1.5–3 kW machines with Raycus sources and US$16,000–19,000 for 3 kW.
- The same nominal 3 kW machine is quoted in China at about CN¥100,000 by second-tier makers and about CN¥200,000 by top brands: frame, head, controller, enclosure and service explain the gap.
- Enclosed exchange-table machines: about US$60,000–100,000 at 6 kW and US$100,000–250,000 at 8–12 kW, depending on brand and whether installation is included.
- New 20 kW Chinese cutters with exchange table were listed in Germany at €159,900–189,900 plus VAT; a 3 kW tube cutter at €62,400 plus VAT.
- Maxwave's indicative price for its open-bed 1530 with a 1000 W Raycus source is from US$8,500 ex-works Wuhan; the written quotation is binding.
- India applies anti-dumping duty of 22.54–147.20% on Chinese laser cutting, marking and welding machines until December 2028: check duties before you compare prices.

Machines sold from stock in Europe or the US cost more than the same model ex-works China, because the dealer carries freight, duty, stock and local service.
Why one “3 kW” costs US$10,000 and another US$60,000
In China, the same nominal 3 kW machine is quoted at about CN¥100,000 by second-tier makers and about CN¥200,000 by top brands. The watts are the same; these are not:
- Laser source. Raycus or Max (Chinese) cost less than IPG or nLight. Ask for the exact model and serial number.
- Cutting head and controller. Brand and model of the head, the CNC controller and the nesting software, and whether the software is licensed to you.
- Frame and bed. A welded, stress-relieved bed and a cast beam hold accuracy longer than a light frame.
- Format. An open bed is cheapest. An exchange table keeps the laser cutting while you load; a full enclosure protects operators and is expected for higher powers.
- Automation. Loading and unloading towers, sorting and storage can double the price.
- Warranty and service. Terms range from one year on the machine to five years on the source and head. Who answers in your time zone matters as much as the term.
From ex-works to landed cost
Landed cost = ex-works price + inland transport and export clearance + sea freight and insurance + import duty + VAT or GST + port and broker fees + installation and training.
- Crating and freight. A 1500 × 3000 mm cutter usually ships in a 20 or 40 ft container or on a flat rack; enclosed machines and exchange tables take more space.
- Duty. Your customs authority classifies the machine, often under heading 8456. Some countries add trade-remedy duties: India applies anti-dumping duty of 22.54–147.20% on Chinese laser cutting, marking and welding machines from December 2023 for five years.
- Site. Budget for the three-phase supply, a chiller, compressed air or nitrogen, and fume extraction sized for the table.
- Installation. Ask who pays the engineer’s travel, visa and daily fee, and whether training on your own DXF files is included.
How to get prices you can compare
- Send the same brief to every supplier: materials, thicknesses, sheet size, parts per shift and your voltage.
- Ask for the cutting chart of the exact source and head, and for a cut sample in your material.
- Ask for the configuration in writing: source, head, controller, software, bed, chiller, enclosure, warranty and spare-parts kit.
- Compare at the same delivery point (ex-works, FOB Shanghai or delivered) and the same quote date; fiber laser prices and freight change monthly.
